Join our Community Build-a-Thon and turn your creativity into impact. Build a mini “house” or “village” using anything you can imagine — LEGOs, recyclables, food, office supplies, wood, metal… The possibilities are endless!
Every dollar raised helps provide safe, affordable housing for local families across North Iowa — while also supporting local businesses through prizes.

2. Just click the link we provide to set up your fundraising page in minutes—then share it with friends, family, and coworkers anywhere (text, email, social) to start raising funds right away! (link sent after signup)

PRIZES & AWARDS:
Teams will be eligible to receive prizes if they win an award, and based on the total amount they’ve raised through their online Peer-to-Peer pages.
All registered teams will receive a handwritten thank you card from a Partner Family, Homeowner, or Volunteer and three T-shirts. (Additional shirts available for purchase for $10 each.)
PEER-TO-PEER FUNDRAISING PAGES
Share a photo of your team, a story about why you are raising funds for Habitat for Humanity of North Central Iowa and update your page with pictures of your house building progress. All teams must have a team fundraising goal.
JUDGE AWARDS
Awards will be given to teams that the judges choose as winners in each of the following categories:
· Most Original
· Most Detailed
· Most Unique Materials Used
· Most Edible
· Most Durable
· Largest House
· Smallest House
· Best of Show / "Best in the Neighborhood!"
* There will be an additional "Youth Category" available for each award if 50% or more was built by a child under 12 years old.
ADDITIONAL AWARDS
· Legacy Award – Given to the team who raises the most money.
· People’s Choice Award – This award will be given to the team with the most “Likes" in the Completed Houses Album on the HFHNCI Facebook Page. For a vote to count, individuals must first "Like" the HFHNCI page, then "Like" their favorite team's house.
WINNERS
All teams will be required to share their final house photos and videos through email to buildathon@habitatnci.org by Friday, June 10th. Our team of judges will then begin the review process, and announcements of the winners will be made
TIMELINE
THURSDAY, APRIL 30TH
Registration due, and the home building begins! (A $30 non-refundable registration fee is required.)
FRIDAY, MAY 15th
Teams must be registered and fundraising pages completed and shared through social media, text,or email.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3rd
5-10 photos of the house building progress, materials, and finished home are due along with a 1- minute video introducing your team to the judges emailed to buildathon@habitatnci.org.
SATURDAY, JUNE 20th
Winners will be announced on the radio and through social media!
IMPORTANT TEAM REQUIREMENTS:
- A $30 entry fee is required to participate in the competition.
- An individual fundraising page must be created (a link will be included in the registration confirmation email along with the easy instructions).
- Each team should record a 1-minute video to introduce their entry along with 5-10 photos of the materials used, building process, and finished house due by June 10th to buildathon@habitatnci.org.
- Teams should raise a minimum of $50 to be eligible for prizes.
We've designed this special event to let your creativity shine and bring some joy to your home or office. Your support will help us to fulfill the Habitat mission to provide safe and affordable homes all year round, as well as support area restaurants and businesses.
